Candlestick in Pewter, Just Andersen

Just Andersen (1884-1943) Danish sculptor and silversmith, started his own workshop in 1918. He is best known for his objects in pewter, brass, bronze and so-called disco metal, an alloy consisting of lead, tin and antimony. Disco was Just Andersen's own invention, (named after Disko Bay in Greenland where he grew up). During the mid-1920s and early 1930s Just Andersen made commissions for Nordiska Kompaniet and Guldsmedsaktiebolaget in Stockholm. Just Andersen is probably the most widely known designer of modern pewter in Denmark. He had his own showrooms in Berlin, London, New York and Los Angeles. In 1934 he designed cutlery for Firma Georg Jensen. Great vintage condition with signs of use.
